Happy Almost November all! As I do my monthly recaps I am noticing that I really stick with one fashion trend every month. This isn’t even on purpose, I guess I just find something I like and run with it until I move on. October was the month of wearing tee-shirts over dresses. I found this was a great way to add coverage to all my summer cami-dresses without adding a bulky, warm layer like a flannel shirt or jacket. It’s still in the high 80’s here in Florida so they are just not necessary or practical to wear yet.
I tried this trend several ways this month, here are two of the ways I shared it on Instagram.
For the first look, I wanted something polished but casual. I took a leopard cami shift dress I had from last year and added this basic v-neck tee and knotted it over top. I threw on my converse slip-ons and was ready for a day of running errands. I also ended up wearing this outfit with a pair of heeled sandals to a girl’s night out last week too! It was a hit both ways.
For the second look, I added an Express London Tee on top of a very flowy cami dress I got from Target this summer. I really like how adding the tee gives the appearance of a whole new outfit, so I’m really getting an extra bang for my buck from my summer dresses.
What I’m eating: During our anniversary trip to Savannah we ate ALL THE SOUTHERN FOOD. If you’re planning a trip to the area, the best meal we had was at the Grey! It is a MUST VISIT for sure. The restaurant was featured on the Netflix show “The Chef’s Table” and it is a beautifully restored former segregated Greyhound Bus station. The food was seriously top-notch, I’m still drooling over it in my dreams. I didn’t really even take pictures of it because we were just so engrossed in the meal.
What I’m loving: Plaid Blazers and pointed-toe booties! Like I mentioned previously, we just do not need cool weather attire here yet in Florida so I haven’t really snagged any fall/winter clothes. I’m also keeping my eyes peeled for an affordable velvet or sparkly blazer because I think instead of buying several dresses for the holidays this year, I may just pop a fun blazer over pieces I already own. I’m loving some of this outfit inspo I found on Pinterest. As far as the booties, I don’t want to spend much on them. I found a really affordable pair on JustFab but they sold out in my size before I could grab them, so the search continues.
What I’m dreading: I work all weekend next weekend so I’m really dreading that. At least I have the opportunity to make some money so I will keep a good attitude.
What I’m working on: October was a busy, bittersweet month. We lost our sweet dog Jethro, went on vacation, and I have been working a ton because we are short-staffed at the golf course. Outside of work, I haven’t had time to focus on much else, but I am trying to get back to healthier eating and cooking so we can stay balanced during the holidays.
What I’m excited about: I think Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. PJ and I usually spend it with my brother at my aunt and uncle’s house who live in Tarpon Springs and that’s what we will be doing again this year. We always have a good time when we spend it with them so I am really looking forward to it :).
What I’m watching: I’m rewatching Mad Men for like the 5th time LOL. I’ve been really disengaged from Instagram lately, so I’ve been spending less time there, more time scrolling through Netflix.
What I’m reading: The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F%$#. PJ listened to it as an audiobook and then sent it to me in the written version. I haven’t gotten too far into it yet, I find non-fiction harder to get sucked in to, but so far so good.
What I’m listening to: Frank Sinatra Christmas Radio on Pandora LOL! The music and the pretty decorations are my favorite parts of the holiday. Why not start it a little early? Apparently there was a study done that proved that decorating early for holidays can actually make you happier. I totally believe it too.
Alright, so that was a little bit of my month in a nutshell. Now I’m hoping for the weather to cool off a little bit over the next few months so we actually feel like it’s the holidays! Fingers crossed.
