Best Drug Store Makeup

A few people may know this already, but I actually have my Florida Skincare Specialist/Esthetician license. I never got a job doing it because the market is so saturated, but I still do makeup for friends and family from time to time, I even did makeup for one of my very best friend’s wedding!

I’m not the type of girl to really experiment with crazy colors in my wardrobe or my beauty routine very often. There are, however, certain makeup staples I can’t live without. I have found there are quite a few cheaper makeup brands that actually put out really good products. I also plan on writing a blog on the department store/prestige products I feel are worth spending the extra money on, but for now, I’ll share my budget-friendly favorites.

Revlon Photoready Airbrush Effect Foundation

I am a member of several Facebook groups dedicated solely to makeup. I really love FB groups that are done correctly because they are like a whole little community of people with similar interests and insight. Anyway, a girl in the group asked for everyone’s favorite drug store foundation. A lot of people were in agreement that this is overwhelmingly the best one out there. I’ve been using it a few years now so there may be some new ones out there but I still really like this one. It goes on smoothly and has a moderate, buildable amount of coverage depending on the look you’re going for. I’m seeing it on Walmart online for $11.84 right this instant. So it won’t break the bank!

L’Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara

Confession: I used to spend $35 a tube every few months on the Lancôme Hypnose Drama mascara. That is the ultimate best mascara in my eyes, but I got to a point where I couldn’t fathom spending more than triple what a drug store mascara costs on it. The Voluminous mascara is a pretty good replacement I have found. It adds great length, and the brush really separates each lash! I have yet to find a better drug store mascara but if you know one, I’m always open to suggestions!

Elf Bronzer Palette

Another confession: I use tanning beds 😬 I know they’re awful for my skin, but I can’t stand my natural skin color which is paler than pale. I️ like having a good bronzer to blend the rest of my tanned body with my face! I used to use a Rimmel bronzer, but it was not very dark or pigmented and I had to use quite a bit of it to get it to show up. I just discovered this elf bronzer about a month ago and I’m in love. You can customize your own bronze color using multiple shades, or just use one, and a little bit goes a long way. One swipe of this stuff on each area I want to add color to and I’m good! It was around $6, so I would say a great deal for the money. I also really like elf’s eyeliner brush, which is what I use to apply my brow color.

L’Oréal Extra Intense Eyeliner

The name of this does not lie. It is extra intense and if you are going for the look of a very dark eyeliner, this is the one for you. It’s a very soft pencil, so you have to be careful with it because its almost buttery. It’s great for blending and creating a very dark smoky eye, but not necessarily the best if you’re looking for a very precise line. It would be great to help define a line and then trace over with a liquid eyeliner for more precision. Speaking of liquid eyeliners, I’ve yet to find one, either drug store or department store brand, that I am really in love with. If you have any that you like that you could recommend, please let me know!

Rimmel Stay Glossy Lip Gloss in Blushing Belgraves

This has been my go-to gloss for years now! It’s not sticky, and while it doesn’t last super long (it’s a gloss, not a paint or stain after all) I really love the color and the little bit of sparkle. It’s great by itself for a swipe and go type look but I also like to layer it over my liquid lipsticks for some extra shine. I believe it’s $5-6 at most places and I usually grab 2-3 tubes at a time because I go through them so quickly!

So there we go, that is a majority of the drug store makeup I use! Do you all have any drug store makeup favorites? Let me know! Up next will be my prestige brand makeup favorites 🙂
